Esto resulta especialmente relevante considerando que el gasto del consumidor representa aproximadamente el 70% del PIB de Estados Unidos, frente al 53% aproximado del bloque europeo. Los dos indicadores m\u00e1s observados en este \u00e1mbito son el Consumer Sentiment de la Universidad de Michigan y el Consumer Confidence publicado por el Conference Board. La lectura de la Universidad de Michigan alcanz\u00f3 49.8 en abril, el dato m\u00e1s reciente disponible, manteni\u00e9ndose cerca de m\u00ednimos hist\u00f3ricos desde que comenz\u00f3 la serie en 1978.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Todav\u00eda en 2019, antes de la pandemia de Covid, el \u00edndice rondaba el nivel de 100 y nunca logr\u00f3 recuperarse completamente desde entonces. Las lecturas actuales incluso se encuentran por debajo de las registradas durante recesiones recientes, incluida la Crisis Financiera Global de 2008. Esto contrasta fuertemente con la resiliencia que actualmente muestran los mercados burs\u00e1tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLas respuestas escritas de los consumidores sobre los factores que afectan la econom\u00eda continuaron mostrando una inclinaci\u00f3n pesimista en mayo, mientras que las perspectivas sobre la situaci\u00f3n financiera actual y futura de sus familias fueron algo menos positivas. Las referencias a los precios y al petr\u00f3leo y gas aumentaron por segundo mes consecutivo. Dos tercios de los consumidores afirmaron haber reducido su gasto debido al aumento de precios. La mayor\u00eda compr\u00f3 menos art\u00edculos y pospuso compras costosas. Los consumidores planean ahorrar en ropa, calzado, art\u00edculos recreativos y juguetes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este fragmento proviene directamente del \u00faltimo informe del Conference Board y refleja la continua presi\u00f3n sobre la confianza del consumidor. Aunque el deterioro sigue siendo menos severo que durante la Crisis Financiera Global, los datos contin\u00faan apuntando a un entorno de consumo considerablemente debilitado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ambas instituciones utilizan metodolog\u00edas diferentes y la serie del Conference Board es significativamente m\u00e1s corta. Aunque la acci\u00f3n no ha generado los retornos extraordinarios observados en el sector tecnol\u00f3gico, a\u00fan acumula una ganancia cercana al 45% desde diciembre de 2019, excluyendo el impacto de la pandemia, incluso considerando la correcci\u00f3n actual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Actualmente, la acci\u00f3n cotiza cerca del l\u00edmite inferior de este canal de largo plazo y ha rebotado desde una zona de soporte alrededor de los 275 d\u00f3lares. El canal a\u00fan podr\u00eda extenderse ligeramente a la baja y t\u00e9cnicamente no se considerar\u00eda roto incluso si el precio descendiera hacia la zona de 265 d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La estructura actual sugiere que acciones defensivas como MCD podr\u00edan volverse cada vez m\u00e1s relevantes para monitorear, especialmente ante posibles tomas de ganancias en el sector tecnol\u00f3gico y una rotaci\u00f3n sectorial m\u00e1s amplia. Si las grandes tecnol\u00f3gicas del \u00edndice sufrieran una correcci\u00f3n importante, es probable que el mercado en general enfrente presi\u00f3n y que el sentimiento negativo tambi\u00e9n alcance a compa\u00f1\u00edas como McDonald&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aun as\u00ed, la presi\u00f3n vendedora sobre compa\u00f1\u00edas defensivas vinculadas al consumo podr\u00eda resultar menos agresiva, ofreciendo cierto nivel de protecci\u00f3n relativa.
