{"id":68470,"date":"2025-06-16T13:16:01","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T13:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hub.onequity.com\/?p=7613"},"modified":"2026-02-12T11:53:32","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T11:53:32","slug":"charles-hoskinson-proposes-converting-100m-in-ada-to-bitcoin-and-stablecoins-to-boost-cardano-defi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insights.onequity.com\/ar\/charles-hoskinson-proposes-converting-100m-in-ada-to-bitcoin-and-stablecoins-to-boost-cardano-defi\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Hoskinson Proposes Converting $100M in ADA to Bitcoin and Stablecoins to Boost Cardano DeFi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.onequity.com\/education\/27\/02\/2025\/cardano-unleashed-the-blockchain-revolution-redefining-crypto\/\">Cardano<\/a>, has proposed converting $100 million worth of ADA from the project&#8217;s treasury into a mix of stablecoins and Bitcoin to enhance liquidity and accelerate the growth of Cardano\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.onequity.com\/education\/20\/06\/2024\/the-world-of-defi-a-complete-guide-to-its-features-benefits-and-risks\/\">decentralized finance (DeFi) <\/a>ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a recent YouTube livestream, Hoskinson highlighted the network\u2019s current imbalance between <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.onequity.com\/education\/28\/06\/2024\/stablecoins-the-bridge-between-traditional-money-and-cryptocurrencies\/\">stablecoin<\/a> supply and total value locked (TVL), noting that stablecoins account for less than 10% of Cardano\u2019s $330 million TVL\u2014approximately $33 million. In comparison, <strong>Ethereum<\/strong> and <strong>Solana<\/strong> show significantly higher ratios, with stablecoin-to-TVL levels of <strong>190%<\/strong> and <strong>110%<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Proposed Allocation Strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoskinson suggested allocating around <strong>$100 million of ADA<\/strong> into assets like <strong>USDM, USDA, and IUSD<\/strong>\u2014Cardano-native or ADA-backed stablecoins\u2014as well as <strong>Bitcoin<\/strong>, to support Bitcoin-based DeFi protocols on the platform. The goal is to bring Cardano\u2019s stablecoin-to-TVL ratio closer to <strong>33\u201340%<\/strong>, aligning it with healthier DeFi ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Treasury Reallocation Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cardano\u2019s treasury currently holds an estimated <strong>$1.2 billion<\/strong> (1.7 billion ADA). Hoskinson believes that reallocating <strong>5\u201310%<\/strong> of these funds can be done responsibly and with <strong>minimal market disruption<\/strong>.
